How it all Began

Welcome!

It began with my grandmother—and to her, I will always be grateful.

Hello, I’m Melissa. The light behind WubaLife.

During one of the hardest seasons of my life, everything felt uncertain. I was walking through a difficult divorce, raising three littles, and starting over in a new place far from family. I had very little—just what could fit in my Jeep Liberty and a small storage space—but I held onto hope.

One day, my grandmother called and asked if I wanted to learn the art of soap making. I said yes without hesitation. What started as something simple, something steady, slowly became a quiet place of comfort for me. Over the years, I returned to it again and again, until it gently grew into something more.

Some time later, I found myself moving through life at a pace that didn’t feel sustainable. Between school, work, marriage, family, co-hosting a group at church plus working as the admin, markets, creating products—and even my six cats (two are disabled), a big move—I was constantly in motion, but not truly present. I was giving everything I had, yet feeling further away from the life I actually wanted.

That’s when I felt the Father telling me—life, and this business, were never meant to feel rushed or overwhelming.

So I chose to listen. I chose to slow down. To begin my life and business again, with intention.

WubaLife now reflects something simple- a memory, a feeling, a sense of home that never really leaves you. Every candle, every product, is designed to feel like a return. A return to stillness. A return to warmth. A return to yourself.

Each candle is created from inception to completion, hand painted with careful attention to detail and balance. but especially imperfections. Because the smallest details of an imperfect vessel are often what makes a space feel like home.

Small Batch- Crafted in small quantities to ensure quality and care. All candles are created in a reusable vessel (not refillable).

This isn’t just about fragrance. It’s about creating moments- the kind that feel slower, softer, and more meaningful. The kind that stay with you.

Fun Fact- Wuba is Swahili which means ‘I saw beauty’. I added ‘life’. WubaLife means- ‘I saw a Beautiful life’ & it’s mine.

With much warmth,

Melissa
